The Blood Stained Banner

By Deanna Kloostra, 2009

Oh say can’t you see by broad day light

How so proudly we failed that our children's lights demeaning.

Whose mothers fight and light shines thru the purposeful fight.

As the children we watch so gently screaming.

And the angry red stares, the mother screams in the air.

Gives proof of our plight that our fight is unfair.

Oh, say does that blood stained banner yet wave

O’er the children and how they became brave.

Oh the snore, dimly heard through judges sleep,

Where the hoes haughty ghost in dead silence you will know.

What is that which I see, o’er the judges cheat

As its fully shown, full detailed, fully loathed

Now it catches the seam of the countries first gleam.

In full story neglected, now shines in the steam.

Tis the blood stained banner! Oh how long until it caves.

Over the land of the children and how they became brave.

And where is that system who so valuing more

That the havoc of divorce and the battle’s confusion,

A mom and a country would leave us no more!

Our blood has stained the foul loose stepped politicians.

No referee would save the children as slaves.

From the terror of might, or the gloom he always gave

And the blood stained banner is failure doth waves

O’er the lad of the children and how they became brave!

Oh! Thus be it ever, when freehand shall land

Between their love known and the divorce desolation!

Blessed with violence and please, may the heavens rescue land

Afraid the power that was gave and prepared us for nile-lation.

The conquer and lust, because our case is unjust

And this be our lotto: In God is our love.

And the blood stained banner in defeat shall wave

O’er the land of the children and how they became brave!

Bill seeks prison for those lying to panels

giving false info to

state committees could bring 5 years

Eric Freedman • Capital News Service • April 13, 2009 • From Lansing State Journal

Those who deliberately lie to legislative panels could go to prison under a proposed state law.

"The decisions we make are too large, too important, not to have them based on accurate information," said Rep. Dudley Spade, D-Tipton, one of two lead sponsors of the proposed law.

"You don't think anybody ever lies in Lansing?" he said.

The other chief sponsor, Rep. Lee Gonzales, D-Flint, said, "We're supposed to be stewards of the public interest. If so, we have to make sure the information we get is accurate and no one should be misleading.

"Government business is serious business, especially now," Gonzales said.

Their proposal would make it a felony to provide false information to a House or Senate committee or subcommittee, even if the witness doesn't take an oath to tell the truth.

Violators would face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Co-sponsors include Republican Reps. Darwin Booher of Evart, Tory Rocca of Sterling Heights, Paul Opsommer of DeWitt and Tim Moore of Farwell. Democratic co-sponsors include Reps. Tim Melton of Pontiac, Michael Lahti of Hancock, Joel Sheltrown of West Branch and Coleman Young II of Detroit.

Few oaths taken

In Michigan, people who testify before legislative committees generally aren't sworn in.

Rep. Mark Meadows, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, said the Legislature has a procedure to authorize sworn testimony for investigations but has never used that power during his time in the Legislature.

Meadows, D-East Lansing, and Spade said current perjury laws don't cover such situations because they apply only to statements made under oath.

As written, the measure would impose penalties for intentionally providing information that the witness "knows is materially false, fictitious or fraudulent," or for falsifying, hiding or covering up information.

Earlier version

The proposal is broader in scope but less harsh than a version that died in committee last year. That earlier version would have been limited to executive branch officials and employees and would have set the maximum prison sentence at 15 years.

Spade said incidents highlight the need for such a penalty.

For example, he spoke about a "fairly high-up" state official who was asked directly whether his department would meet federal thresholds for a human services program and replied, "Yes, we will meet them."

But a higher-ranking official later told the committee that the witness had known the department would be unable to comply with federal standards.

In a separate situation, a state official falsely told a House Committee that her department had spent all the funds available for training caseworkers and supervisors. However, legislators later discovered that 18 percent of the money was still unspent.

Hearing planned

"Nobody's trying to create a situation where people are afraid to come before a committee," Spade said. "This should be the easiest law to comply with - just tell the truth."

He said the Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the legislation later, possibly in the summer.

Public corruption is one of the FBI’s top investigative priorities—behind only terrorism, espionage, and cyber crimes. Why? Because of its impact on our democracy and national security. Public corruption can affect everything from how well our borders are secured and our neighborhoods protected…to verdicts handed down in courts…to the quality of our roads and schools. And it takes a significant toll on our pocketbooks, too, siphoning off tax dollars. http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/pubcorrupt/pubcorrupt.htm

Deanna has decided to hold Democratic women in office accountable for their actions.

Deanna sent this email.

You are receiving this email because:

You are a Female

In your first or second year term

in the Democratic party!

I have decided that what children are going through in the family court system needs to come to an end. Huge changes need to take place in the state of Michigan

. The systems set up to make sure others are doing their jobs have failed. I am tired of this and have decided someone needs to be held accountable. Since mothers are a natural child protection agency, and most of you are mothers or will become mothers, you get to be held accountable. For the next two to three years I will be following your work and looking to see how you made a huge impact on keeping our children safe and creating changes in our government. I will also be looking at how you held those accountable for their wrong doings. This information will be added to my web site www.abusedswan.com along with your names. Non custodial mothers throughout the Michigan area will be reporting to me any information on how you are or are not helping our children. In two to three years I will be emailing you again requesting how you made an impact on changing the system for our children. How you answer the question and your actions while in office will determine if I campaign for you or against you. Good luck ladies!
